The many emotions of an Army Wife

It's amazing and a little bit scary the amount of tears this life can cause us to shed and how many emotions I can feel in a day.

I cry because I'm PROUD. I'm proud of my husband and so many men and women like him that make so many sacrifices so that we can live in this country.

I cry because I'm LONELY. I miss my husband so much and some nights I wonder if I will ever fall alseep without him by my side.

I cry because I'm AFRAID. Everytime I watch a movie or a television show or a news broadcast about a soldier not coming home, I'm scared to death that I will one day to have to face that news. And then pray to God to keep him safe for me.

I cry because I'm AMAZED. I'm amazed with myself for being strong and surviving on my own. I'm amazed with the love that we share, because it's strong enough to survive anything.

I cry because I'm HAPPY. I'm happy because I found that one person that makes me feel complete.

I cry because I'm EXCITED. I'm excited because in a little over 4 months I will get to be in his arms once again.

Come on time MOVE FASTER!

Place cards and kiddie bags!

Two more last minute to do's are done! I had some left over printable post cards from my map and mad libs projects. I folded them in half and covered one side of them in damask scrapbook paper. When I have all my r.s.v.p.'s I'll use printable labels to print off names and center them on the tent cards.

I also made goody bags for the kiddos! Inside will be their coloring books, crayons, bubbles, and some candy. Can't wait to throw them all together! :)

Renewal Vows

Last weekend, I finally got my wording written up for the ceremony. One of my best friends will be officiating the ceremony... since we are already legally married, we did not need anyone that is ordained. However, she's never done this kind of thing before so we had to write the wording from scratch.

Well, scratch-ish... I did find that this site is an excellent source for vow renewals and I used her wording to guide me in writing my own. http://www.low-budget-fairy-tale-weddings.com/vow-renewal-ceremonies.html

So here goes!

Officiant: Friends and family we have been invited here today to witness a very special moment for Groom and Bride’s names, the reaffirmation of their wedding vows.

When wedding vows are renewed it is an announcement to the world and to one another that the bond and the love that you share has grown stronger and deeper over time.

So today, in the presence of your friends and family you are reaffirming your commitment to one another.
Groom and Bride, repeat after me:

I take you to be my constant friend,

my faithful partner and my love from this day forward.
I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals,
to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you
and to cherish you for all eternity.”

Officiant: Groom and Bride, these rings are outward symbols of your ongoing commitment to one another. Repeat after me.From this day on,

I recommit myself to you,
and give you this ring
as a symbol of my continued love and devotion.

Officiant: May the commitment you two have expressed today continue to grow in understanding love, commitment and devotion.

With great joy I announce to all present that you truly are husband and wife.

You may now kiss your bride.

Hmmmm... guess I better get this emailed so she can start practicing in the mirror! ;)

Best Stuffed Mushrooms EVER.

I have been dying for some good stuffed mushrooms for a long time, but I had never thought of making them myself.

A friend of mine made some for a work potluck, and she told me they were really easy, so I knew I had to give them a try. I did a quick google search yesterday and found an amazing recipe at allrecipes.com, they were all gone by the time I went to bed last night (oops!) so I knew I had to share. I changed it up just a little based on what I had in the kitchen.

12 whole fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (8 ounce) package of softened cream cheese.
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.

2. Wash the mushrooms and remove the stems. Dice up the stems into little pieces and sauté in a frying pan with the vegetable oil. (throw away any hard parts of the stems)

3.. When the stems cool off mix them in a bowl with the cream cheese and spices.

4. Spoon the stem mixture into and onto the mushrooms generously.

5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the liquid starts to form under the caps.

Escort Card Tree

I finally got my escort cards figured out!

I used my Cricut and cut out some hearts (1 3/4 inches). Punched holes in the hearts with a hole punch and tied some curling ribbon through the holes. I hung all the hearts on some branches that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. The branches are in a tall vase (what was my change jar... lol) with two bags of river rocks (Dollar Tree $1 each).

When time gets closer and I have RSVP's I will write names on the hearts before I hang them on the tree. I think I will use a little bit of tape to position the hearts on the branches a little better so they are not sliding around.

Quick and Easy!

Mad Libs!

Do you remember doing mad libs as a kid? I remember sitting in my seventh grade English class doing this.... the answers were always hillarious (to a 7th grader of course!) and I always looked forward to them. This is one of the cute ideas that I found online and just knew that I HAD to do.

I found the idea here and I just tweaked it a little. I designed it again in Microsoft PowerPoint and I printed these on printable postcards (I had a box just sitting in the closet, SCORE!)

Feel free to steal my wording. I kind of hate that our names are on it, so you can't just print and use it.... but I hope it helps!

I'll have these sitting out on the tables after the ceremony for guests to fill out while we are taking pictures to help pass the time. I made a few more flower pens to scatter on the tables so they can fill them out with somethin pretty. ;)
