HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope 2013 is starting out great for everyone! Today has been a great one so far. The hubby has been busy remodeling our kitchen and I spent the day trying to get the house cleaned up and Christmas packed away. However, while I was getting my cleaning on I got a facebook comment from a fantastic friend of mine letting me know that she has missed my blog. Do you know how good that makes a girl feel? Well, it made this girl feel pretty darn spiffy.
Soooo I have decided I had better show off the amazing Faux Fireplace my hubby built us!
When we moved in here my husband decided that he wanted just the TV in the living room. So, even though I don't like to share I gave up one of the shelves in my Craft Room for the TV equipment and XBox. He used an infrared extender (a device that allows you to hide all of your equipment and still control it with a remote control) to move all of our stuff, and suddenly NOTHING was under the tv. This was nice, but bare... so we had to take action quick!
We started out with just a shelf built under the tv, but that still wasn't enough. So he then built legs onto the bottom of the shelf and inserted a piece of brick patterned wall paneling into the opening. This gave us a great place to decorate for the holidays, as well as a way to fill up some wall space!
I have always wanted a mantle to decorate and I think it added so much to the room! Now I just have to get it decorated for everyday use! It's quite empty, but I bet my crafty self will get it filled up soon!
(And yes, I am watching Storage Wars, I'm sort of addicted.)
