Confessions of a Cheapo- Cell phone edition

It's no secret that I'm kind of a cheap ass. I only buy clothes on clearance, I DIY everything I can think of, I clip coupons whenever I can, or only buy things that are on sale.

So, honestly no one should expect me to be any different when it comes to my cell phone. Right?

About 6 months ago my cell phone contract was up on my parents line, and I decided it's probably about time to be an adult and get my own cell phone account.

When looking around at all the different options, I can tell you I instantly felt nauseous over the amount of money I was looking to spend for not as much as I wanted. But, then I looked in to Straight Talk from Walmart, which is a service from Tracfone.

Do you remember Tracfone back in the day? That was my first cell phone provider when I was in high school! After I would cash my paycheck from my minimum wage job I would run out and get a card for $10 or whatever to add minutes to my phone and off I went!

And then a few days later I was completely out of minutes and scraping up change to do it all over again. Honestly, I think I spent more time running down my battery playing Snake than anything else. Oh and if anyone called me while I was playing Snake? It was ON. "Grandma! I was doing something important! Sheesh.

Ok sorry, I got stuck in 2001 in a second. That was a scary place.

Anyway, I found a deal with Straightalk that I just couldn't beat. I bought an Android phone for $150 and got service for $45/month with unlimited talk, text and web.  And it's prepaid.

This is not a drill and not too good to be true! I have had my Straightalk account for 6 months and I can not imagine getting anything different, ever. I've got great service, no surprise bills and no complaints whatsoever.

Unfortunately, a couple months ago I didn't realize my phone was in my lap when I got out of the car and I flung it across the driveway, and shattered the screen.

I have tried living with my cracked phone, but this weekend I notice some little bits of my screen inside my purse and decided it was probably time to quit being a cheapo... I mean I'm thinking it wouldn't be the most fun ever to reach into my purse and slit my wrist. :-/

So, I broke down this weekend and ordered a new phone from Walmart.com (with the replacement plan this time!)

I got the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, which is the original Samsung Galaxy and I'm a happy girl!

I'm so happy to do my texting, email checking, banking and Pinning without wondering when my phone screen will fall through... all for a low price!

I will never go back to a regular cell phone plan again, and if you are looking for a way to cut costs I suggest you look into this one ASAP.
